Mandan wins NDHSAA Girls Tennis Team Dual State Championship

GRAND FORKS – Mandan completed an undefeated season in team dual girls tennis competition on Thursday, June 3 at Choice Health and Fitness.

The Braves defeated Minot 4-1 in the 2021 NDHSAA girls tennis team dual final to earn the program’s first state championship.

A sweep in the singles portion of the dual propelled the Braves (19-0) to victory. Seniors Elizabeth Felderman, Lizzie Allan and Kate Kesler each picked up wins in singles play.

Mandan’s other win came at No. 1 Doubles where the pairing of Sophia Felderman and Breanna Helbling rallied to win 2-6, 6-4, 10-3.

The Braves defeated Valley City 5-0 in the quarterfinals and Bismarck Legacy 5-0 in the semifinals earlier on Thursday.

In individual singles competition, West Fargo Sheyenne's Mimi Gu defeated Mandan's Elizabeth Felderman 6-4, 6-4 in the state championship match.

In individual doubles competition, the pairing of Minot's Eden Olson and Sofia Egge defeated Mandan's Breanna Helbling and Sophia Felderman 6-4, 6-3 in the state championship match.
