Lorell Jungling selected for NIAAA Distinguished Service Award

FARGO – Lorell Jungling, Executive Director of the North Dakota Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NDIAAA), has been selected to receive the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) Distinguished Service Award. Jungling is one of only 11 individuals from across the country to receive this recognition based on his outstanding service to athletic administrators and the NIAAA.  The award will be presented at the National Athletic Directors Conference on December 18th in San Antonio.

Jungling is a Certified Master Athletic Administrator and has served the NIAAA on the Membership Committee, the Ad Hoc Mentoring Committee and the National Emergency Network. He has been the Executive Director of the NDIAAA for the past three years, as well as, serving as the NIAAA liaison for North Dakota during that time. Jungling has also been the Membership Coordinator for the NDIAAA for the past 16 years and is nationally recognized for developing a model membership initiative that has been replicated across the country.

Jungling retired from the Mandan Public Schools in 2016 after a 32-year career in education in North Dakota.  During his tenure in Mandan, he served on the Board of Directors of the North Dakota High School Activities Association and on the National Federation of High School Associations (NFHS) Board of Directors. Jungling has previously been honored as a recipient of the NFHS Citation Award and the NIAAA State Award of Merit. Prior to his time in Mandan, he served as an athletic administrator in Sheyenne, Underwood and Valley City.

The NIAAA is an 11,000+ member association of athletic administrators with a mission to preserve, enhance and promote education-based athletics through the professional development of interscholastic athletic administrators.
