NDHSAA Board Synopsis: August 7 Meeting

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The North Dakota High School Activities Board of Directors met on Friday, August 7 via conference call.

Highlights of the August 7 NDHSAA Board of Directors Meeting included:

  • The Board approved additional recommended procedures for Fall 2020 tennis matches. Approved NDHSAA Tennis Match Play COVID-19 Guidelines can be found in the NDHSAA Return to Competition Guidelines

  • The Board received an update from CSTAND regarding possible format changes to fall fine arts contest formats if needed due to COVID-19 health requirements.  Plans and declaration dates to be approved at a future meeting.  

  • The Football Committee presented to the Board and discussed procedures for determining playoff qualifiers in 2020. The Board approved allowing each region to create a procedure to determine its four playoff qualifying teams in the event not every region contest is played.  Regions will submit their procedure to NDHSAA prior to their first allowable date for contests.

  • Virtual road races during the cross country season were discussed.  The Board directed staff to remind coaches that non-school sponsored road races of any kind are not allowed during the NDHSAA cross country season.

  • The Board asked the NDHSAA staff to explore possible virtual region administrator meeting dates in the event they are needed. More information will be provided on fall region administrator meetings at a later date.

The Board will next meet virtually at 9 a.m. CDT Friday, August 14.
