NDHSAA Board Synopsis – (January 19, 2023)
VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The North Dakota High School Activities Association Board of Directors met in person in Valley City on Thursday, January 19.
The following were agenda items were discussed or acted on:
The Board’s Awards and Canvassing Committee submitted a report to the full Board regarding the results of the New Board Member Elections via electronic ballot. The Board approved the elections of Larry Derr (Superintendent at Glenburn Public Schools) for the Class B Northwest Representative and Mitch Lunde (Athletic Director at Minot Public Schools) for the Class A West Representative. Elected Board Members serve four-year terms. Derr and Lunde will begin their four-year teams starting in the 2023-24 School Year.
The Board approved five items from Athletic Review. Athletic Review Grid
The Board approved a Realignment Committee Report that placed Northern Lights and Maple River into a Softball Region and Divide County into a Baseball Region.
The Board approved a Tournament Committee Report that included the recommendation of 2023 Girls Wrestling Region Tournament sites for East Region (Grand Forks Red River High School) and West Region (Williston High School) & Class B Region Volleyball Tournament sites for Region 1 (Lisbon High School) and Region 8 (Williston State College).
The Board approved a Fine Arts & Academics Committee Report that included a One Act Plays tie breaker.
The Board approved meeting dates for the 2023-24 school year and also approved the June Board Meeting to now be a one-day meeting starting this spring. NDHSAA Board Meetings are posted on www.ndhsaa.com.
The next scheduled Board meeting is Friday, January 27.
