JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Kindred-Richland repeated as North Dakota High School Activities Association Class B softball state champions on Saturday, June 3 at Lyle “Trapper” Lawrence Field in Jamestown.
The Vikings posted a 1-0 win over Central Cass to claim its third state championship in four years. Kindred-Richland also won state titles in 2014 and 2016.
Kindred-Richland plated the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning. Sophomore Amanda Roesler led the inning off with a single and used her base-running skills to later come around and score the winning run.
Roesler was alert advancing two bases on a sacrifice bunt after third base had been left open during the play. With Roesler on third with one out the Vikings were in good shape for a walk-off win.
Freshman Madison Olien slapped a ball into play with one out. Roesler tried for home sliding safe to beat the throw home from the infield.
The state championship celebration for the Vikings followed.
