West Fargo Sheyenne wins NDHSAA Boys Tennis Team Dual State Title

GRAND FORKS – For the first time in program history West Fargo Sheyenne celebrated a NDHSAA boys tennis team dual state championship on Thursday evening (October 10) at Choice Health Fitness in Grand Forks.

The Mustangs (20-2) defeated Mandan 3-2 in the championship dual of the 2024 NDHSAA Boys Tennis Team Dual State Tournament.

The deciding match of the dual was No. 3 singles. Junior Brandt Aslakson edged Mandan’s Ryan Bitz 6-2, 5-7, 10-4.

West Fargo Sheyenne swept the two doubles matches of the dual as the combos of Andrew Rexin/Jordan Clemenson & and Eli Smith/Nick Angus each scored 6-0, 6-0 decisions.

Mandan’s two wins came at No. 1 singles (Karter Hatzenbuhler) and No. 2 singles (Jared Christen).

On Saturday, October 12 the Individual Singles & Doubles State Tournaments concluded.

Cole Wilber, a senior at Grand Forks Central, won his second consecutive NDHSAA individual singles state championship with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Grand Forks Red River’s Aodh Murphy.

The doubles combo of Brandt Aslakson and Andrew Rexin won the individual doubles state title with a 7-6 (3), 7-5 win against Bismarck Legacy’s Caleb Johnson and Cooper Miller.
