MLB umpire, Minot High grad & former NDHSAA official Gary Cederstrom retires

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – Veteran Major League Baseball umpire Gary Cederstrom, a graduate of Minot High School and former North Dakota High School Activities Association official has elected to retire according to Close Call Sports & Umpire Ejection Fantasy League (CCS & UEFL).

Cederstrom umpired 3,579 career games including four World Series assignments (2005, 2011, 2015 and 2019). He served as crew chief for the 2015 and 2019 World Series.

Prior to his 31 seasons umpiring in Major League Baseball, Cederstrom umpired in the Midwest League, Eastern League, and American Association. He was named Crew Chief of the Year by CCS & UEFL in 2015 and 2019.
