NDHSAA Member School Alumni: Ty Brooks, former multi-sport standout at Fargo South HS

This week's NDHSAA Member School Alumni Spotlight shines on Ty Brooks, a 2015 graduate of Fargo South High School. Below is a list of accomplishments in Brooks’ prep and collegiate careers.

TY BROOKS - PREP ATHLETIC STANDOUT AT FARGO SOUTH HIGH SCHOOL

GRADUATION YEAR: 2015

HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC CAREER

FOOTBALL

  • Was a three-year starter for the Bruins.

  • Named North Dakota High School Coaches Association (NDHSCA) All-State First Team in 2013 (junior season) and 2014 (senior season) at the defensive back position.

  • Named to All-Eastern Dakota Conference (EDC) Team in 2013 and 2014 as a defensive back and running back.

  • Helped the Bruins to a NDHSAA Division AAA Football State Championship in 2013.

  • Made two key plays in the final four minutes of the 2013 Division AAA state title game - a 59 yard touchdown catch and a 43 yard fumble recovery returned for a touchdown in Fargo South’s 42-34 win over Bismarck High.

  • Finished the 2013 state title game with four catches for 128 yards and four rushing attempts for 21 yards.

  • Rushed for 967 yards and 17 touchdowns during his senior season.

  • Caught 26 passes for 499 yards and five touchdowns during his senior season

  • Returned 13 kickoffs for 309 yards and a touchdown during his senior season.

  • Returned 10 punts for 118 yards during his senior season

  • Scored 23 total touchdowns his senior season and was second in the Eastern Dakota Conference in scoring with 138 points.

  • Tallied 1,912 all purpose yards his senior season.

  • Caught 18 passes for 462 yards and four touchdowns during his junior season.

  • Rushed for 192 yards his junior season

  • Finished his junior season with 209 yards in kickoff returns and 56 yards in punt returns.

  • Scored a total of 13 touchdowns his junior season and was second in the Eastern Dakota Conference in scoring with 78 points.

  • Tallied 919 all purpose yards during his junior season.

  • Rushed for 167 yards and three touchdowns as a sophomore.

  • Caught six passes for 65 yards during his sophomore season.

  • Finished his sophomore season with 286 yards in kickoff returns and 56 yards in punt returns.

  • Tallied 574 all-purpose yards during his sophomore season.

TRACK & FIELD

  • Two-time NDHSAA Class A Boys Long Jump Individual State Champion (2014: 21-10.50; 2015: 22-05) 

  • 2015 NDHSAA Class A Boys Triple Jump Individual State Champion (43 feet, 3 inches).

  • Placed eighth in the 2014 NDHSAA Class A Boys 100 Meter Dash (11.09 seconds).

Also played basketball at Fargo South.

COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CAREER

  • Played football at North Dakota State from 2015-2019 (Redshirted in 2015)

  • Was named a team captain in 2019 (senior season).

  • Was a member of NDSU’s football team for four NCAA Division Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) National Championships (2015, 2017, 2018, 2019).

  • Honorable mention All-Missouri Valley Football Conference in 2019 (senior season) 

  • Finished his collegiate football career with 2,422 rushing yards (17 touchdowns) 

  • Finished his collegiate football career with 154 yards receiving (1 touchdown)

  • Tallied 814 yards in kickoff returns during his collegiate football career.
