VALLEY CITY, N.D. – Fargo Davies senior Mason Klabo now stands alone atop the North Dakota Class A/Division AA boys basketball all-time career scoring list.

Klabo surpassed 2017 Dickinson High School graduate Aanen Moody for the No. 1 spot on the scoring list on Tuesday, February 18 during the Eagles’ Eastern Dakota Conference 66-54 win against West Fargo Sheyenne at Davies High School.

Klabo tied Moody’s mark of 2,192 career points with a pair of free throws in the first half and less than a minute later surpassed Moody on a layup with just over nine minutes left to play in the first half.

"It hasn't really hit yet how crazy and surreal this moment is," said Klabo, who finished with 26 points on Tuesday.

Klabo, an Illinois State men’s basketball signee, now has 2,209 career points.

"I put in a lot of work over the years,” Klabo said. “As a kid this is what I dreamed about playing basketball for Bart Manson and the Davies Eagles. To lead the school in all-time points and to now lead the state in points is impressive. I'm assuming one day it will be broken when I’m older, but I would like to come back one day and show my kids this.”

The all-time scoring list for Class A/Division AA boys basketball now reads as follows:

2,209 - Mason Klabo, Fargo Davies
2,192 - Aanen Moody, Dickinson
2,002 - A.J. Jacobson, Fargo Shanley
1,994 - Jeff Boschee, Valley City
1,863 - Jeremiah Sem, Fargo North

"He's in an elite, small group of scorers who were all tremendous high school basketball players," Davies head coach Bart Manson said. "(Mason's) ability to score even at such a young age compared to some of the guys who scored a bunch of points in their sophomore, and junior years ... Mason was leading the state in scoring as a freshman. This probably wouldn't have even been close had he played in every game of his career due to some injuries he has dealt with. I'm both glad and proud he has gotten to this point and has broken the record, because he deserves it. In my mind he is one of the most prolific scorers this state has seen in a long time."

Klabo entered the game with 2,183 points needing 10 points to break Moody’s record.
