Fargo Shanley wins 2019 NDHSAA Girls Soccer State Title

JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Fargo Shanley put the finishing touch on an undefeated season in girls soccer on Saturday, June 1.

The Deacons defeated Minot 2-1 in the championship game of the North Dakota High School Activities Association state tournament hosted at Rotary Field on the campus of Jamestown High School.

Shanley opened the tournament with a 5-0 win over Jamestown in the Quarterfinals on Thursday, May 30 and followed up with a 2-0 win over West Fargo Sheyenne in the semifinals on Friday, May 31.

Shanley got on the scoreboard first eighth grader Haley Von Bank recorded a goal in the first half. Minot evened the match in the second half when MaLiah Burke scored a goal. The game-winning goal for the Deacons came from junior Hadley Huber.

Minot was making its second appearance in a state title game. The previous appearance was in 2010 when Minot lost to West Fargo.

The state championship is Shanley’s second in program history. The Deacons’ previous state title came in 2012.

Shanley’s final win-loss record this spring was 15-0-2.
