FARGO – Fargo Davies won its second North Dakota High School Activities Association girls soccer state championship on Saturday, June 3 at Sid Cichy Stadium.

Davies – the No. 4 seed from the East Region at state – defeated Fargo Shanley-Oak Grove 1-0 in the championship match avenging a pair of 1-0 losses to the Deacons in the regular season.

Sophomore Ali Matter scored the lone goal of the match in the first half to help the Eagles to their first state title since 2014.

Davies went undefeated since a May 11 loss to Shanley-Oak Grove. During that stretch the Eagles didn’t surrender a goal.

The Eagles opened the tournament defeating West Region top-seeded Jamestown 1-0 and followed with a 2-0 win over Fargo North in the semifinals to set up a rematch with the Deacons.

Davies ends the season 12-4-3. Shanley-Oak Grove ends its season 12-3-4.
