Dickinson wins NDHSAA Class A Softball State Championship

FARGO – Dickinson High is no stranger to the NDHSAA Class A Softball State Tournament championship game. 

On Saturday, June 3, the Midgets played in their sixth state final in the last nine school years and for the second time in program history Dickinson celebrated a state championship.

Dickinson High rallied to defeat Minot High 2-1 in the 2023 NDHSAA Class A softball state championship game played at Tharaldon Park in Fargo.

The Midgets fell behind 1-0 after the first inning, but would tie the game in the fifth inning and plate the go-ahead and winning run in the top of the sixth to secure their second state championship in three seasons with the other coming in 2021.

Seventh grader Gabriella Sobolik was 2-for-3 at the plate for the Midgets and scored a run.

Junior pitcher Ava Jahner paced Dickinson High in the field recording 11 strikeouts in the complete-game effort. Jahner finished the tournament with 28 strikeouts.

Minot High sophomore Sydnee Bartsch led the Magi going 2-for-3 at the plate.
