VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The 2017-18 North Dakota High School Activities Association wrestling season is off and running.
Bismarck (Class A) and Hettinger/Scranton/R-T/H/M-R/B (Class B) are defending state team dual champions. Minot (Class A) and Lisbon (Class B) won individual team state championships a year ago.
Returning individual state champions in Class A are:
Laken Boese, Jr., Bismarck High – 2017 106-pound state champion, ND Wrestle preseason No. 1 at 120 pounds
Justin Harms, Sr., West Fargo – 2017 113-pound state champion, ND Wrestle preseason No. 1 at 145 pounds
Ryan Ripplinger, Jr., Bismarck High – 2017 120-pound state champion, ND Wrestle preseason No. 1 at 126 pounds
Brody Armstrong, Sr., Minot – 2017 126-pound state champion, ND Wrestle preseason No. 1 at 132 pounds
Dawson Zerr, Sr., Turtle Mountain – 2017 132-pound state champion, ND Wrestle preseason No. 1 at 138 pounds
Isaac Berger, Sr., Mandan – 2017 145-pound state champion, ND Wrestle preseason No. 1 at 152 pounds.
Jared Franek, Sr., West Fargo – 2017 152-pound state champion, ND Wrestle preseason No. 1 at 160 pounds
Cade Pederson, Jr., West Fargo – 2017 160-pound state champion, ND Wrestle preseason No. 1 at 170 pounds

Kyle Burwick, Jr., Hettinger-Scranton – 2017 120-pound state champion, ND Wrestle preseason No. 1 at 126 pounds
Chauncey Dittus, Jr., New Salem-Almont – 2017 126-pound state champion, ND Wrestle preseason No. 2 at 138 pounds.
Cale Schalesky, Sr., Hettinger-Scranton – 2017 132-pound state champion, ND Wrestle preseason No. 1 at 138 pounds.
Garrett Jangula, Soph., Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter – 2017 138-pound state champion, ND Wrestle preseason No. 1 at 152 pounds.
Jordan Urbach, Sr., Lisbon – 2017 170-pound state champion, ND Wrestle preseason No. 1 at 220 pounds.
Clayton Grueneich, Sr., Ellendale/Edgeley/Kulm – 2017 195-pounds state champion, ND Wrestle preseason No. 1 at 195 pounds.

Region Tournaments: Feb. 10
State Class A and Class B Tournament: Feb. 15-18 at Fargodome
