FARGO – In the previous 18-years of the team dual portion of the North Dakota High School Activities Association State Wrestling Tournament two Class A programs – Bismarck High and West Fargo – had combined to win every state championship. Friday night (Feb. 15, 2019) marked the 19th year of the team dual tournament and Dickinson High School joined the club of Class A programs with a state title.

The Midgets defeated Bismarck High 32-28 in the 2019 NDHSAA Class A Team Dual State Championship held at the FARGODOME.

Dickinson had previously finished runner up in the team dual tournament once (2003).

Dickinson’s win snaps a run of four consecutive team dual state titles for Bismarck High.

The Midgets trailed Bismarck 28-21 heading into the final two matches of the dual. Dickinson’s Tate Nordby scored a tech fall over Bismarck's Cullen Glatt at 160 pounds for a five-point swing that paved the way for Caleb Usher at 170 pounds. Usher scored a big pin against Jordan Schumacher to put Dickinson on top.

Kameron Clark (195) and Tyler White (220) picked up pins early in the dual for Dickinson. The Midgets led 15-0 after the first three matches, but the Demons stormed back with wins at 285, 106 and 113 pounds to get back into the match.
