NDHSAA January Board Meeting Recap

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The North Dakota High School Activities Association Board of Directors met on Thursday, January 17.
Highlights of the meeting included the announcement of new NDHSAA Board members for the 2019-20 school year, approval of sub-region assignments for Class B softball during the 2019 season, approval of several recommendations from Athletic Review and the approval of the 2019 Fall Region Tournament sites.
New NDHSAA Board members for the 2019-20 school year are:
Paul Jundt, Athletic Director at Bismarck Legacy High School, was elected as the Class A West representative.
Dave Schoch, Superintendent at Velva Public School District, was elected as the Class B Northwest representative.
The election of NDHSAA Board Members is determined by a vote of member schools. Board Members serve four-year terms.
The 2019 NDHSAA Class B Softball Region alignments will include two sub regions for the East and West Regions. Four teams from each sub region will qualify for the region tournament. The top four teams from each region (East and West) will qualify for the state tournament.
The Four Sub Regions are as follows:
East Sub-Region 1: Central Cass, Enderlin/Maple Valley, Hankinson/Fairmount/Campbell-Tintah/ Lidgerwood/Rosholt, Hillsboro/Central Valley, Kindred/Richland, Northern Cass
East Sub-Region 2: Dakota Prairie, Grafton, Larimore, May-Port-CG, Pembina County North, Thompson
West Sub-Region 3: Bishop Ryan, Des Lacs-Burlington/Lewis & Clark, Divide County, Glenburn, Kenmare/Bowbells/Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood, Ray, Stanley, Westhope/Newburg/Bottineau
West Sub-Region 4: Beulah, Central McLean, Garrison/Max, Harvey/Wells County, Heart River, Velva/Drake-Anamoose, Washburn, Wilton/Wing
JV Schedule Only: Rugby, Solen/Standing Rock
The Board of Directors approved four coaches advisory and Athletic Review recommendations that will go into effect in 2019-20. A link to the Athletic Review grid is available here:

The Board accepted a letter of resignation from NDHSAA Administrative assistant Sue Carlsrud, who will be retiring this summer after 43 years with the Association. Carlsrud will receive a Citation from the National Federation of State High School Associations this summer in Indianapolis for her significant contributions to the NDHSAA. Board Members commended Carlsrud for her service.
