JAMESTOWN, N.D. – Hillsboro/Central Valley knows a thing or two about winning NDHSAA Class B girls cross country state championships. The Burros won eight state titles in a row from 2011 to 2018. On Friday, October 25 at Jamestown’s Parkhurst Campground/Pipestem Reservoir Hillsboro/Central Valley added to the program’s trophy case winning another state title – the program’s ninth all-time.
The Burros scored a 64 edging out runner up Killdeer (83 points).
Leading the way for the Burros was seventh-grader Claire Grinde who raced to an individual medalist time of 18:50.3 – over a half-a-minute faster than three-time defending individual state champion Brynn Hanson of Des-Lacs Burlington/Lewis and Clark.
Caroline Anderson (5th place, 19:34.9) and Azlynn Johnson (9th place, 20:02.0) joined Grinde as All-State finishers for the Burros.
