VALLEY CITY, N.D. – Former Fargo South boys golf standout Tom Hoge finished third at the Sony Open held Thursday through Sunday at the Waialae Country Club in Honolulu.

Hoge was the tournament leader heading into Sunday’s final round. He finished the tournament 16-under.

Patton Kizzire won the Sony Open edging James Hahn in a six hole playoff. Hahn shot a 62 final round to force a playoff with Kizzire at 17-under 263. Hoge was one-stroke out of the playoff.

The PGA Tour season is only two weeks old, but Hoge came out with solid rounds in Honolulu.

Hoge, 28, captured his first 54-hole lead in a PGA Tour event on Saturday shooting a 64 after a pair of 65s in opening days of the event. He held a one-stroke lead over Kizzire and Brian Harman entering the final round.

Hoge was up two strokes through five holes in the final round. The lead was cut to one stroke heading into Hole 16. Hoge scored a double bogey on Hole 16 and fell out of the lead.
