HAMDEN, Conn. – Former Bismarck Blizzard girls hockey standout Britta Curl celebrated another championship on Sunday, March 24.
This time it was a Division I Women’s Hockey National Championship competing as a member of the University of Wisconsin squad that defeated the University of Minnesota 2-0 at the People’s United Center in Hamden, Connecticut.
Curl, a freshmen forward, had two shots in the game and started for the Badgers.
Curl had a standout freshman season with Wisconsin being named an All-WCHA Rookie Team selection. She tallied 22 goals and 12 assists this season.
As a prep hockey player, Curl was a member of four North Dakota High School Activities Association state championships with the Bismarck Blizzard (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018). She finished her prep career with 189 goals and 116 assists. Curl graduated from Bismarck St. Mary’s High School in 2018.
During her senior season in 2017-18, Curl also competed on the United States Women’s National 18 and Under Hockey Team that won a gold medal at the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women’s World Championships held in Russia.
