Bismarck Legacy snaps Bismarck Century's 42-game win streak in girls hoops

BISMARCK – Bismarck Century’s winning streak of 42 straight games in girls basketball came to an end Thursday night (January 16).

The No. 1-ranked Patriots fell to No. 3-ranked Bismarck Legacy 58-47 in a Western Dakota Conference showdown at Jim Haussler Gymnasium on the campus of Bismarck Legacy High School.

Legacy trailed 27-25 at halftime. Alexis Dressler and Arianna Berryhill each scored 14 points to lead the Sabers. Legacy is now 10-0 overall and 9-0 in the WDA.

Century’s last loss came on February 20, 2018 against Bismarck St. Mary’s – a 39-38 setback in the regular season finale. Century closed out the 2017-18 season with six straight victories to win the 2018 NDHSAA Class A state championship. The Patriots went undefeated in 2018-19 winning 27 games.

The Modern Era (1974-present) Class A girls basketball winning streak record is 76 games by Fargo Shanley (2014-2017).
