NDHSAA Board Synopsis: June 8 Meeting

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The North Dakota High School Activities Board of Directors met on Monday, June 8 via conference call.

Highlights of the June 8 NDHSAA Board of Directors Meeting included:

  • The Board approved a five-year extension with NDHSAA Premier Partner Farmers Union Insurance for sponsorship of NDHSAA activities.  

  • The Board approved recommendations from the Executive Board to uphold current academic eligibility requirements in place for any student participating in activities during the 2020-21 school year and to extend the allowable dates for summer camps in all sports other than boys soccer through August 6.

  • Team payments for member schools during the 2019-20 school year were approved by the Board. Team payments will be $75,000 – funds donated by the Marcil Family Foundation allocated annually to go toward the NDHSAA team payment plan.

  • The Board approved the creation of a Return to Competition Committee to create guidelines for NDHSAA member schools transitioning back to holding activities during the 2020-21 school year. The Committee will consist of 14 individuals representing various activity groups and state organizations. 

  • The Board voted to keep Esports a club activity for the 2020-21 school year.    

  • The Board approved three recommendations from Athletic Review. NDHSAA ATLETIC REVIEW GRID

  • The Board nominated and approved officers for the 2020-21 school year. Travis Jordan, Superintendent at Beulah Public Schools, will serve as Board President. Grand Forks Public Schools Athletic Director Mark Rerick will serve as vice president.

  • The NDHSAA Board of Directors next meeting will take place via conference call at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 24.
