NDHSAA Board Synopsis: June 24 Meeting

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The North Dakota High School Activities Board of Directors met on Wednesday, June 24 via conference call.

Highlights of the June 24 NDHSAA Board of Directors Meeting included:

  • The Board approved meeting formats for the 2020-21 school year. The September Board Meeting will be held in person if conditions allow. The 2020 NDHSAA New Administrators Meeting will be held virtually. The 2020 NDHSAA Regional Administrator Meetings will be held in person if conditions allow. Membership will be notified if any changes occur in the status of these scheduled meetings.

  • Officials Registration for the 2020-21 school year will open July 1. Registration Deadlines will coincide with the online officiating clinics in each respective sport.

  • The 2020-21 NDHSAA Budget was approved.

  • The Board approved a report from the Return to Competition Committee. It was determined that the guidelines for a return to competition for extracurricular activities will be aligned with the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction’s K-12 Restart Plan. A final draft of the K-12 Restart Plan, approved by Governor Doug Burgum and the North Dakota Department of Health, is slated for mid July.

  • Outgoing Board President Scott Privratsky and Board Members Michael Sorlie and Mitch Carlson were commended for their service. New NDHSAA Board Members for the 2020-21 school year are: Josh Johnson (Superintendent at Valley City Public Schools), Rick Diegel (Superintendent at Kidder County School District #1), Guy Fridley (Athletic Director at Dickinson High School) and Dr. Todd Bertsch (Principal at Fargo South High School).
