The NDHSAA has over 2,000 registered officials who are an integral part of High School Sports & Fine Arts Activities in the state of North Dakota. Please consider showing your appreciation to your local officials this week and the rest of the winter months. It is the right call to say thank you to our officials. Another right call is considering becoming a registered official! Visit https://highschoolofficials.com/ for more information.

  • Kindred girls basketball on the upswing. The Kindred girls basketball team has rattled off five straight wins since a 65-61 loss against Thompson on January 3. In that stretch they’ve picked up a Region 1A win against Northern Cass (January 6) and two victories against ranked squads – a 60-54 road win against then No. 2-ranked Devils Lake on Friday, January 10 and a 56-44 win against No. 3-ranked Valley City on Tuesday, January 14. The Vikings are next in action on Thursday, January 16 with a home game against Lisbon and also open next week’s slate of games at home against Central Cass who have a win against Kindred earlier this season  – a 58-52 win on December 16.

  • Dickinson picks up big boys hoops win over No. 1-ranked Minot High. It looks like the Western Dakota Association boys basketball season is going to be one to watch night in and night out this winter. Last night (Tuesday, January 14) Dickinson High defeated No. 1-ranked and previously undefeated Minot High 86-83. The road win is a nice feather in the cap of the Midgets, who received votes in last week’s Division AA Media Poll. Dickinson overcame a 48-34 deficit at halftime and were led by junior guard Boston Cranston, who scored 23 points in the second half to fuel the Midgets’ comeback.

  • West Fargo Sheyenne & Fargo Davies remain undefeated in Eastern Dakota Conference team dual standings. With a month left in the season, West Fargo Sheyenne and Fargo Davies currently sit atop the Eastern Dakota Conference team dual ranks. Both the Mustangs and Eagles sport 5-0 conference records and will meet on the mat on January 30. Prior to that meeting will be the Metro Duals which will give both teams a chance to work on their lineups heading into what will likely be a pivotal matchup down the stretch for determining the East’s No. 1 seed at Class A Boys Wrestling Team Dual State Tournament next month at the FARGODOME.

  • JOTTINGS. South Prairie/Max junior guard Skotti Beck scored the 1,000th point of her prep girls basketball career during the Royals’ 89-31 win over Stanley at South Prairie High School on Monday, January 13. Beck made a free-throw in the third quarter for her 1,000th point. … Thompson senior Karter Peterson surpassed the 1,000th point career scoring milestone during the Tommies’ 58-56 win against Central Cass on Tuesday, January 14.
