JAMESTOWN – The winningest North Dakota high school boys basketball coach Dan Carr of Linton/HMB earned another career milestone on Monday Night.
Carr won his 800th game as a high school boys basketball coach. Carr's Linton/HMB Lions defeated LaMoure-Litchville/Marion 51-50 in overtime during the 2023 NDHSAA Class B, Region 3 tournament quarterfinals played at the Jamestown Civic Center.
Carr entered the 2022-23 season 14 wins shy of 800 for his career and Monday Night’s win put his official career total at 800-275.
Carr has 764 wins in North Dakota and the other 36 coaching victories came when he started his coaching career at Belgrade High School (Minn.).
In the 41 seasons Carr has coached the Lions, the program has won three NDHSAA Class B state championships (1984, 1985 and 2009) and has made 11 total appearances at the NDHSAA Class B Boys Basketball State Tournament.
Carr surpassed longtime Hillsboro boys basketball coach Ed Beyer (688 career wins) on the all-time North Dakota boys basketball coaching wins list during the 2015-16 season.
Carr is a member of the North Dakota High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame (2015) and the North Dakota Sports Hall of Fame (2018).
