NDHSAA Board Synopsis - (December 5, 2024)

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The North Dakota High School Activities Association Board of Directors met in person in Valley City on Thursday, December 5.

The following were agenda items that were discussed or acted on.

  • The Board approved a Realignment Committee Report that included the following items:

    - Finalized Football Division & Region assignments for the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

    - Finalized Volleyball Division, Districts, and Region assignments for the 2025 fall season which will be the first season of three-division volleyball in North Dakota.

    - A review of the Classification Committee Guidelines.

    - 2025 Region placements for Lisbon High School in the sports of Baseball (Region 1) and Softball (Region 1).

  • The Board approved NDHSAA State Tournament site recommendations made by the Combined Tournament Committee for the 2031-32 school year. 7-Year NDHSAA Tournament Site Rotation

  • The Board approved a Board Tournament Committee Report that included 2025 Fall Region Tournament Sites. https://ndhsaa.com/calendar/tournament-sites/current Select the “2025-26” Tab at the bottom of the sheet.

  • The Board approved a Fine Arts & Academics Committee report that included the Class A Plays Contest becoming a “direct registered” single day event starting in 2026. Once 16 plays are entered in the contest that will then trigger the creation of two regions of Class A plays that will serve as the qualifying event for the Class A Plays State Contest.

  • The Board approved a Finance Committee Report that included reducing the ticket price of NDHSAA Division A and Division B Basketball State Qualifiers. Digital Ticket admission prices for NDHSAA Division A and Division B Basketball State Qualifiers will be $10.

  • The Board approved a date change for the 2025 NDHSAA Region 1A Girls Basketball Tournament. The final day of the 2025 NDHSAA Region 1A Girls Basketball Tournament will be Thursday, February 27 at Scheels Center in the Sanford Health Athletic Complex. The third-place game will tip off at 1 p.m. followed by the championship game.      

The next scheduled Board meeting is January 23 in Valley City.
