VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The North Dakota Class A/Division AA High School Girls Basketball 2,000-point club welcomed a new member on Tuesday night.
Minot High junior forward Leelee Bell scored the 2,000th point of her prep girls basketball career during Minot High’s 67-58 Western Dakota Association victory against Bismarck St. Mary’s on Tuesday, January 28 at Minot High School.
Bell finished the game with 37 points and became the eighth Class A/Division AA girls basketball player in state history to surpass 2,000 points. Bell joins Angie Welle (Fargo Shanley), Reile Payne (Fargo Shanley), Durene Heisler (Devils Lake), Tylee Irwin (Wahpeton), Adie Wagner (Fargo South), Jocelyn Schiller (Grand Forks Red River) and Sarah Jacobson (Fargo Shanley) in the Class A girls basketball 2,000-point scoring club.
Bell was 10 of 23 from the field on Tuesday against the Saints and was 16-for-18 from the free-throw line. She also grabbed nine rebounds in the victory and dished out four assists.
Bell’s 1,000th point was scored on December 2, 2023 during her sophomore season.
Bell helped Minot High to a NDHSAA Class A girls basketball state championship in 2022 as an eighth grader.
