VALLEY CITY, N.D. – There is a new career scoring record holder for North Dakota Class A/Division AA high school girls basketball.

Minot High junior forward Leelee Bell surpassed 2016 Fargo Shanley graduate Sarah Jacobson’s total of 2,371 on a free-throw with 6 minutes, 12 seconds remaining in the second half of Minot High’s NDHSAA Division AA State Tournament semifinal game with Bismarck Century on Friday, March 14 at the FARGODOME.

Bell entered the game with 2,349 career points – just 23 points shy of breaking Jacobson’s record.

Bell finished the game with 28 points. Century defeated Minot High 57-54 to advance to Saturday’s NDHSAA Division AA Girls Basketball State Tournament championship game.

Bell now has scored 705 points this season for Minot High. She entered the 2025 NDHSAA Division AA Girls Basketball State Tournament with 2,332 career points and No. 3 on the Class A/Division AA high school girls basketball career scoring list. Bell surpassed 2024 Grand Forks Red River graduate Jocelyn Schiller (2,344 points) for No. 2 on the career scoring list during Minot High’s 65-59 win over Fargo Davies in quarterfinals on Thursday, March 13 at the FARGODOME.

Minot High will play Mandan at 1:30 p.m. in the Division AA Girls Basketball third-place game.

Following Friday’s game Bell now stands alone atop the North Dakota Class A/Division AA high school girls basketball career scoring list … and she still has a full season left to play.
